A “Healthy Woman, Healthy Family” Training Session Was Held in Değirmençay Village

As part of the efforts undertaken by the Mersin University School of Nursing to promote public health, an educational event titled “Healthy Woman, Healthy Family” for women in Değirmençay Village was organized.

The educational session was led by Prof. Dr. Duygu Vefikuluçay Yılmaz, Dean of the Mersin University School of Nursing, and Instructor Asiye Çelebi. The event, which drew significant interest from women living in the village, emphasized the importance of protecting and promoting women’s health not only from an individual health perspective but also in terms of family and community health.

Topics covered during the training included health needs specific to women’s life stages, healthy nutrition, physical activity, preventive health practices, regular health checkups, the importance of early diagnosis and screening for breast and cervical cancer, mental health protection, and self-care.

Attention was drawn to the impact of women’s health on the health behaviors of family members and the raising of healthy generations, and the importance of women developing conscious behaviors to protect their own health was emphasized.

The session, which saw a very high turnout, was conducted interactively thanks to the women’s active participation and the questions they asked. Information was shared regarding the health issues participants face in their daily lives and the topics they were curious about.

The event highlighted the message: “A healthy woman is the foundation of a healthy family; a healthy family, in turn, is the foundation of a healthy society.”

The training session, organized by the Mersin University School of Nursing as part of its university-community collaboration and social contribution initiatives, concluded with strong interest from participants and a mutual exchange of knowledge.
